Lists of services

Beneficiaries must call the number below  to be referred to a mental health provider.

Callers may be referred to one or more of the following programs depending on the needs identified:

1.   PSYCHIATRIC EMERGENCY TEAM

Individuals who are potentially a danger to themselves or others or who are gravely disabled will receive an immediate assessment to determine if hospitalization or other care is required.

2. LOCAL NETWORK OF THERAPISTS

Individuals who have short term mental health needs will be referred to one of the contracted mental health therapists, to Family Service Center, or to one of the community health centers.

3. MADERA COUNSELING CENTER, OAKHURST COUNSELING CENTER, OR CHOWCHILLA COUNSELING CENTER

Individuals who have complex or long term mental health needs will receive a comprehensive assessment and, if needed, receive services such as: day treatment, medication management, case management, peer support groups, individual or group therapy, etc.

4. OTHER COMMUNITY RESOURCES

Individuals who do not require the above services may be referred to a variety of community programs including:  parent education group, substance abuse treatment, self-help group, primary care physician, social service organization, employment service, etc.

 PAYMENT

Mental health services are provided on a sliding fee scale according to ability to pay.  Many services are covered by MediCal, Medicare and private insurance.
 
 

If you speak a different language or you have physical limitations, we will help you find appropriate and accessible services.
 CONSUMER RIGHTS

As a consumer of the Madera County Mental Health System, you are entitled to the following rights:

1. Receive respectful treatment by all employees and contractors of the organization.
2. Receive services in a safe environment.
3. Request information regarding your progress in treatment.
4. Request a summary of your  medical record.
5. File formal complaint or grievance regarding services received.
6. Request assistance in obtaining complaint resolution or filing a grievance.
7. Receive information about medication prescribed and potential side effects.
8. Request a change of treatment provider or coordinator.
9. Request a change in level of care prescribed in Client Plan.

 CONFIDENTIALITY

Information gathered in the course of evaluation and treatment is confidential and not shared without written permission except under the following conditions:

1.  Threatened suicide
2. Threatened physical harm to another person
3.  Suspected child abuse
4.  Reported abuse of the elderly
5.  Court Order

 COMPLAINTS

We encourage you to discuss concerns about mental health services with your therapist or program staff.  You may also talk to the Quality Management Coordinator at 675-7850 or (888) 275-9779; or  call  the  Patients' Rights  Advocate at  675-7925 to discuss a concern.  Complaint forms are available at all Mental Health Service locations.

GRIEVANCE PROCEDURE\FAIR HEARING PROCESS

If you are unable to resolve a concern about any aspect of service, you may file a formal grievance by completing a blue Grievance Review Form.  Forms are available from the Mental Health Department at 675-7925.

If you are a MediCal beneficiary, you may request a Fair Hearing to appeal a written denial, reduction or termination of service.  You do not have to go through a formal or informal procedure before Fair Hearing is requested.
Your mental health services will not be affected in any way by filing a complaint, grievance, or request for a Fair Hearing.
