THE PURPOSE OF THIS DIRECTORY
AND SOME INFORMATION IN IT
The directory's purpose is to provide information on resource agencies
to women and men who are in transitional life situations. Our focus is
on Head Start parents, pregnant teens, parenting teens, single parents,
displaced homemakers, and disabled persons. There are many local agencies
that provide necessary services in a timely, supportive way. Perhaps more
importantly, these agencies serve as referral and information centers.
It is this referral system that allows a networking process to take place
between the various agencies and between individuals involved in providing
supportive services. This agency "connection" furthermore establishes the
first step in "Bridging the Gap" in our county.
In this Directory the agencies and service providers are listed in
alphabetical order and in the front directory they are further arranged
by the agencies general area of service. We appreciate the participation
and cooperation of all agencies providing information regarding their services
for this directory.
Readers should be made aware that addresses, telephone numbers, and
services are constantly changing. Also, the information in the Directory
does not in any way constitute an endorsement or exclusion of an agency
by the authors of the Directory. Your assistance is requested to correct
any omissions or errors and to keep this directory current. Please call
the Regional Head Start Program at the Madera County Action Committee (209)
673-9173 for new listings and corrections.
